Since April 2007, he is associate professor at Toyo University, Faculty of Business Administration. He was also project lecturer, Intellectual Asset-based Management Endowed Chair, University of Tokyo since April 2008 to September 2011. He contributed to the book “The Dynamics of Regional Innovation : The Policy Challenge in Europe and Japan” co-edited by Yveline Lecler, Tetsuo Yoshimoto and Takahiro Fujimoto with a chapter on “Licensing strategy of Japanese firms”(co-authored with Nobuo Takahashi), World Scientific Publishing (2011).

Objectif/Purpose of stay

The research program is twofold :

_ 1) Koji NAKANO’s on-going research program is entitled : “Process of regional innovation in Europe“. In comparison with some cities in Japan, the aim is to carefully depict the process of launching a new business in Europe, especially in France focusing on activities of innovation in the region, conducting interviews with various companies, institutions and local government.

_ 2) The aim of stay at IAO is also to prepare and start a new research program on smart communities in Japan and France/Europe. The case of Confluence in Lyon will serve as case study in comparison with experimentations done in Japan.
